2 PhD. positions and 1 Postdoc in Cyber Threat Intelligence and Threat Attribution

Location: Cyber Science Lab – School of Computer Science – University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

Application Deadline: 25 November 2018

Start date: Jan 2019

Position Description:

The Cyber Science Lab in School of Computer Science, University of Guelph, is seeking for applications for 2 PhD. and a 1-year Postdoc position in Cyber Threat Intelligence and Threat Attribution. The successful candidate will work on a well-funded project under the supervision of Dr. Ali Dehghantanha. The ideal start date is Jan 1, 2019. Later start dates may be considered.

The project is focused on the development of an automatic cyberattack attribution system based on state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques that leverage multi-view fuzzy consensus clustering (FCC) algorithms.  This system will enhance “cyber attribution” by automatically detecting, or making decisions about, the source of cyberattacks. The system will be trained using multiple AI learning sources, enabling it to consider multiple technical, and non-technical viewpoints, to “intelligently” estimate cyberattack sources. Moreover, it will use machine learning algorithms to automatically sort and find important information from ambiguous or ill-defined concepts (i.e. fuzzy logic) will facilitate the sharing of different agents’ view about ongoing cyberattacks.

Requirements:

PhD. candidate should have MSc. in Cybersecurity or artificial intelligence or closely related field preferably with proven track of relevant publication. Please note you need to meet UoG English Requirements and should have CGPA of 80% or more in your last two years of study (see: International Credential Evaluations if your previous degree is not from Canada).

Postdoc candidate: you should have expert level knowledge and a track of publication in Q1 journals in using AI in cybersecurity. Candidates with background in fuzzy machine learning are preferred.

If you like to know more about the above positions, please contact Dr. Ali Dehghantanha.

How to Apply:

If you meet the position requirements, we love to hear from you regardless of your nationality, religion, gender, whatsoever!

Please send your C.V, publications list and name and contact of at least 2 references to adehghan-at—UoGuelph—dot—ca. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted to arrange for interview.
